The Metro Moose are proud to announce that ’95 forward Dominick
Sacco has been called up by the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. After a strong
start in his first season in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League,
Dom earned the call up after having skated with Omaha nearly a month
ago. At the time of his call up Dominick leads the league in scoring
with an impressive 32 goals and 28 assists in just 25 games played.
Dominick was also selected to represent the Moose at the Met League
All Star Weekend in the Prospects Game.
Dominick said “I am very excited to take the next step in my hockey
career. The chance to play in Omaha is a great opportunity for me. I
want to thank the Moose for giving me the opportunity and helping me
further develop my game to help get me to this level. I am going to
miss my coaches and teammates while I am away in Omaha.”
Head Coach Craig Doremus said “We are all extremely proud of Dominick
and happy to work with the Lancers in giving him this opportunity. Coach
Aikens was excited to get Dom to Omaha immediately and I look forward
to seeing him progress during the next month or so. My staff and I decided
to go with a younger roster this season and this was all part of our
plans. While the goal for the team is to win we ultimately want to work
on player development and movement. We want our players to know that
we will always do what is best for them in their career. We hope Dom
is the first of many players we can send to the USHL.”
On Friday, January 6th Dominick made his debut for Omaha in a home game
vs. The Des Moines Buccaneers. Shortly into the second period Dom scored
on his first shot on net off a pass on a 2 on 1. Omaha went on to win
the game 4-3. Dom finished the game +1 with 2 shots on net.
