The Metro Moose organization couldn’t be happier with the start
of the season on the ice. The Moose have fared very well in league and
non league play and the coaching staff looks forward to the upcoming
challenges. The Metro Moose also strives to be excellent off the ice
as well. The players and staff have bought into this 100%. This year
the Moose along with Suffolk PAL, the Long Island Royals and New York
Apple Core will compete for the Ronald McDonald Cup. There will be two
semi finals games with the finals being held January 10 at Nassau Coliseum
prior the New York Islander game.
On Monday, October 17 the players and coaches traveled to the Ronald
McDonald House of New Hyde Park. Assistant coaches Bobby DiRico, Brendan
Tracy, and Vic DiRico took the reins as lead chefs for the night. Each
of the players worked very hard cooking and cleaning up for the families
at the Ronald McDonald House. Over 60 families were fed a diner of salad,
chicken cutlets and vegetables.
The staff of the Ronald McDonald house couldn’t have been more
complimentary of the team. The families were also extremely appreciative
of the efforts. Head Coach Craig Doremus said “This is the type
of event where you just feel better after having participated. Having
a son of my own makes it hit home that much harder. You never know when
you will be the one in need. I am extremely proud of my players and
their effort with this program. I truly believe this will help these
men as they move forward in life.”
