Moose send 6 players to
MJHL All-Star Weekend
The Metro Moose are proud to announce that 6 players have been selected
to participate in the All-Star festivities of the MET league. John
Schiavo, Dominick Sacco, Tommaso Bucci and James McNamara were selected
to participate in the MET prospects game which will feature some of
the best young talent on the east coast. Forwards Kaelin Groon and
Danny Malafronte were selected to participate in the MET league All-Star
game.
“When we put our blue print in place for this season, this is
definitely something we had hoped for. Not only have our players helped
us succeed as a team; they are getting recognized amongst their peers
and other coaches. Being selected to participate in this prestigious
event is definitely an honor for each and every one of our players.
We are extremely proud to have them represent our organization”
said Head Coach Craig Doremus.
Schiavo, Groon, Bucci and Malafronte have been stalwarts for the team
all season. Schiavo (24 goals, 27 assists) is a returning player from
last season who has been one of the most consistent offensive players
in the league all season. Kaelin Groon (13 goals, 35 assists) came
to the Moose early in the season from California. He has adapted to
the east coast very well and will hopefully sign with a school very
soon. Bucci (22 goals, 25 assists) was a player who immediately stood
out from day 1 of tryouts and has continued to progress ever since.
He is one of the hardest working guys on the team and his numbers
prove it. Malafronte (7 goals, 17 assists) joined the Moose very early
in the year and has been a steadying force throughout the lineup.
Sacco (32 goals, 28 assists) will not be participating due to his
recent call up to the USHL, currently leads the league in scoring
despite missing time while in Omaha. Defensemen James McNamara (5
goals, 16 assists) has been the most consistent defensemen for the
Moose thus far. “MAC” has worked extremely hard since
tryouts to improve his game and is yet another Moose drawing major
attention. He plays major minutes in all situations and will be relied
on heavily as the Moose head towards the post season.
Moose Head Coach Craig Doremus has also been selected to coach in
the All-Star game. Doremus said” I am honored to represent the
Moose at the MET League All-Star weekend. Our players have worked
hard to allow me this opportunity and I am extremely proud of each
and every one of them. This represents not only our guys who are participating
in the festivities; it represents each and every player on our roster.
I can’t wait to get back to work next week as we prepare for
the stretch run”.
The Moose would also like to congratulate Moose alumni Patrick Schule,
a ’94 forward who plays the New York Bobcats of the AJHL. Patty
was selected to participate in the AJHL Young Guns event. Patrick
stared for the Moose last year in their third consecutive trip to
USA Hockey Junior Nationals. Congrats Patty!
